Phong Nha is a magical place to spend a few days… or week or months! You’d be surprised at how many people who are “just passing through” decide to stay longer upon the realization that they need much more time here to soak up the beauty of the people, landscape, food, culture, etc.

That being said, if you’re looking for somewhere to stay, we’ve got some great recommendations for you below

Chay Lap Farmstay

Experience an idyllic blend of rural relaxation and hospitality at Chay Lap Farmstay, located on the doorstep of the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park. Positioned among the local grazing and farming fields, Chay Lap Farmstay is a delightful Farmstay retreat in this un-spoilt region of Vietnam. With tranquil river life just a short stroll or bicycle ride away, this countryside resort is low-key yet intensely charming. All rooms are situated within the separate houses that are strategically spaced out throughout the 1.8 hectares of landscaped gardens and farm plots.

Chay Lap Farmstay is the ideal starting point from which to venture further afield and discover the region’s magnificent caves, natural beauty and minority villages.

Customers who are Oxalis Adventure Tours participants will receive an extra discount on their stay at Chay Lap Farmstay.

Phong Nha Lakehouse Resort

Its namesake drawn from the beautiful lake it overlooks, Phong Nha Lakehouse Resort is a peaceful getaway located just outside of Phong Nha town. The food is high quality and the atmosphere is cozy and relaxed.

Lake House has a swimming pool, and it also boasts a beautiful lake for those looking to take a cool dip in the hot summer weather (and during the colder winter months, be sure to try their hot chocolate)! They have a wide menu of choices at their restaurant, catering to those with an appetite for Western fare and for those who prefer Vietnamese cuisine.

Lake house is removed from town, which is one of its selling points for those looking for some quiet, but this can be a drawback for some (anyone who isn’t comfortable riding a motorbike, or for those looking to be in walking distance to shops, restaurants).

Phong Nha Farmstay

Phong Nha Farmstay is located 9 km outside of Phong Nha just a few minutes off the Ho Chi Minh Highway. It overlooks beautiful fields of rice and the karst mountains in the distance.

Phong Nha Farmstay is a little higher end, though still very welcoming to travellers of all types. Contrary to its name, it’s not a farm, but a french colonial farmhouse-style hotel set out in the countryside. Farmstay has live music a couple nights a week, along with great food and nightly dinner specials, and outdoor movies on their big screen in the lantern house.

Their swimming pool makes for a refreshing afternoon on a hot summer day while outdoor sun loungers give you the chance to relax and catch some sun. You can catch a beautiful sunset from the outdoor area overlooking the rice paddies, where drinks are served by the attentive staff.

Oxalis Home

Oxalis Home Hotel sits onsite at Oxalis Adventure Tours headquarters. Ideally located just outside of town along the Son River, Oxalis Home Hotel boasts some of the best views in Phong Nha. Mountain View rooms are perfect for those looking to soak up the sights of the karst mountains and green rice paddies; each River View room comes with a private balcony, best for enjoying the panoramic scene of the river below.

The Expedition Cafe on the ground floor serves fresh, flavorful food along with Vietnamese coffee, smoothies, and refreshing juices. Along with the hotel and cafe, Oxalis Home is proud to present the first beach in Phong Nha, where you can cool off after a hot day and catch the evening sunset with your toes in the sand.

Amenities include Wi-Fi, air conditioning, free breakfast, free bicycles for cycling around the village, and use of the river beach including brand new kayaks!

Ho Khanh’s Homestay

Ho Khanh’s is a homestay towards the end of town, set away from the hustle and bustle of the town. Mr. Ho Khanh is a sweet, humble man, and it was he who first discovered Son Doong, the world’s largest cave.

The homestay is set on the beautiful Son River, where taking a dip in the summer is highly encouraged. One of the best parts of this homestay is that Khanh’s wife Nghia makes a wonderful coffee: you can order it hot or iced, black or sweetened with condensed milk, and you can even drink it with the added indulgence of a layer of chocolate. They also serve breakfast (think soup with noodles) and a fridge full of cold drinks.
